Festivals are for getting together and spending some quality time. It is a very important part of life that makes you happy and helps you collect memories that can be cherished throughout life. OCTS as a firm, never failed to organise celebrations to keep our employees rejuvenated and happier. This will help them find relaxation in between their focused work and have something wonderful to remember from their professional life!
Origin Of Onam!
Onam is one such festival celebrated throughout the country without barriers even though its origin is from Kerala. It is celebrated in remembrance of Mahabali who wished to let him visit his subjects once a year to Lord Vishnu. The day he believed to return to see his subjects is said to be the day of Onam. However, It is celebrated for 10 long days in Kerala with their traditional dress and rituals. The government provides them with government holidays for this celebration.
Onam In OCTS!
As already said, Onam is celebrated all along the country without differences, especially in Tamil Nadu as it is a neighbouring state. OCTS on our part has organised wonderful fun activities for our employees including the Rangoli competition between our employees. They were divided into four teams and given time to showcase their rangoli skills. It was filled with fun as they enthusiastically mingled and were involved in making rangolis that were a treat to our eyes. Some were absolutely beautiful while others were the result of absolute newbies trying something new for the very first time in their life. However, both were eye-grabbing in their own way! Splashy Onam Pookalam was created by our female employees which is filled with flowers and happiness. Followed by sharing of thoughts about Onam and its origin was given by an employee through her wonderful speech. It was new to know about the base of the festival that doesn’t belong to us. The event is completed by a funny quiz competition between employees about Onam and Kerala.
Additionally, OCTS has organised a mouth-watering feast called Onam Sadya filled with Kerala-style food varieties which were absolutely awesome and new taste to our buds. Rice with traditional Kerala sambar was quite different from traditional sambar of Tamil Nadu, yet yummy to our tummy along with mixed veg aviyal, poosanikai and erissery to introduce the taste of Kerala cuisine. Followed by a healthy tomato rasam with Kerala flavour that eases the digestion process and Ginger chilli Moru was an absolute banger in the table along with appalam and nenthrangai chips to complete a full meal. It was prepared with love and care from our catering team!
On the whole, It was a day to remember for each of us! This celebration has brought fresh energy to our tables which will definitely reflect in our productivity and success!
